Mira Vista Country Club Hole 18Fort Worth, Texas — The Kathy Whitworth Invitational (KWI), one of the nation’s premier junior girls golf championships, is proud to announce that the tournament will return to its longtime home at Mira Vista Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, for the 2027 championship, scheduled for March 14-16, 2027.

After two successful years at The Lakes at Castle Hills in Lewisville, Texas, the Invitational will once again be contested at Mira Vista, where the tournament was hosted for 25 years prior to the club’s comprehensive golf course renovation.

The Kathy Whitworth Invitational extends its sincere appreciation to The Lakes at Castle Hills for serving as gracious host during the 2025 and 2026 championships while Mira Vista underwent its transformation. The club provided an outstanding championship venue and helped ensure the tournament’s tradition of excellence continued uninterrupted.

“We are thrilled to bring the Kathy Whitworth Invitational back home to the beautifully renovated Mira Vista Country Club. Andy Staples has transformed an already great golf course into something truly special, and we are excited to showcase it to some of the best junior players in the world,” said Tammy Walton, 2027 Co-Chair and longtime committee member.

Originally designed by renowned architects Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish in 1987, Mira Vista Country Club recently completed a full-scale golf course renovation led by architect Andy Staples. The project included the reconstruction of all greens, bunkers, and tees, the widening and re-grassing of fairways, installation of a new irrigation system, and enhancements designed to preserve the strategic character of the original design while improving playability and course conditioning.

The renovated course maintains the risk-reward elements that made the original layout memorable while introducing greater strategic options and championship-caliber conditions for today’s players.

The 2027 championship also carries special significance as it will be dedicated to the memory of Walter Rainwater, whose generosity, leadership, and unwavering support helped shape the Kathy Whitworth Invitational from its earliest days.

As one of the tournament’s most passionate supporters, Walter Rainwater was a familiar presence overlooking the first tee at Mira Vista Country Club, welcoming players, families, volunteers, sponsors, and golf professionals year after year. His commitment to junior golf and the tournament’s mission helped establish the foundation upon which the Invitational continues to thrive today.

Now entering its 28th year, the Kathy Whitworth Invitational has become one of the most respected events in junior golf. Since its founding in 1999, the tournament has welcomed many of the world’s top junior girl golfers and has earned recognition through the AJGA Rolex Rankings, providing competitors the opportunity to earn valuable national ranking points.

Each year, the Invitational hosts a field of approximately 72 elite junior golfers from across the United States and around the world, attracting college coaches from leading NCAA programs. Tournament alumni have advanced to the highest levels of amateur and professional golf, including the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Junior Solheim Cup, Solheim Cup, Curtis Cup, NCAA Championships, and the LPGA Tour.

Notable alumni include Nelly Korda, Jessica Korda, Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel, Brittany Lang, Christina Kim, Alexa Pano, Rachel Heck, Jane Rah, Jane Park, and many others who have gone on to achieve success on golf’s biggest stages.

Beyond competition, the Kathy Whitworth Invitational remains committed to its founding mission of supporting junior golf while raising funds for charitable organizations throughout Tarrant County. Since its inception, the tournament has promoted the values of confidence, character, leadership, sportsmanship, and responsibility through the game of golf.

Additional information regarding player applications, sponsorship opportunities, and tournament activities will be announced in the coming months.
