California’s Lily Peng wins the 26th Kathy Whitworth Invitational

Fort Worth, TX – In a dramatic conclusion to the 26th Kathy Whitworth Invitational, Lily Peng emerged victorious in a two-hole playoff against Emerie Schartz of Kansas. Peng, a sophomore from California, showcased remarkable consistency with rounds of 69 and 70 for an impressive 5-under par 139, securing her first KWI title after finishing tied for second in last year’s tournament. Her clutch performance cements her status as one of the top rising talents in junior golf.

Schartz finished in second place, while first-round leader Zoe Cusack claimed third with rounds of 71-69 for a two-day total of 4-under-par 140.

“The Kathy Whitworth Invitational is the most prestigious amateur golf tournament in the country for junior female players.  It boasts a list of past champions and players that reads like a who’s who of the LPGA Tour.  I consider it an honor to serve as Honorary Chair of the tournament in this 25th anniversary year.  Kathy Whitworth was a hero to the golf world and this tournament is a great statement on her outstanding legacy.  May we all strive to live up to this legacy.”
