LEWISVILLE, TX – It was a perfect day at The Lakes at Castle Hills for the final round of the 2025 Kathy Whitworth Invitational. With temperatures in the mid-80s and slightly more wind than yesterday, the course conditions provided a challenging yet ideal setting for the prestigious tournament’s conclusion.

In a dramatic finish, Lily Peng emerged victorious in a two-hole playoff against Emerie Schartz of Kansas. Peng, a sophomore from California, showcased remarkable consistency with rounds of 69 and 70, securing her first KWI title after finishing tied for second in last year’s tournament. “I started off good with a birdie, and I knew if I just took it shot by shot and didn’t worry about the score, then I’d be okay. It really means a lot to me to win this event,” said Peng.

Schartz finished in second place also finishing with rounds of 69 and 70, including an eagle on hole 18 during the first round. Zoe Cusack of Maryland claimed third with rounds of 71-69 for a two-day total of 4-under-par 140.

The Kathy Whitworth Invitational committee would like to thank the staff, members, and volunteers at The Lakes at Castle Hills, the USGA Rules Officials, all the college coaches who attended, the players and parents who traveled to compete, and the generous sponsors who continue to support this prestigious event.
