Benefitting the Kathy Whitworth Foundation

Tournament History

The Kathy Whitworth Invitational Junior Girls Golf Tournament is now in its 26th year. For 24 years, the tournament was proudly hosted at Mira Vista Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. While Mira Vista undergoes course renovations, the Invitational has temporarily moved to The Lakes at Castle Hills in Lewisville for 2025 and 2026, continuing its tradition on another premier championship course.

Each year, the Invitational brings together 72 of the world’s best junior girl golfers to compete at the highest level. The tournament is recognized by the AJGA Rolex Golf Rankings, and players earn valuable ranking points based on the strength of the field and their finish.

Since its founding in 1999, the tournament has raised funds for local charities in Tarrant County, conducted in concert with the ideals of the USGA: to promote love of the game while building confidence, character, leadership, sportsmanship, and responsibility.

Tournament entry is based on playing ability and merit. With its high standards, the Invitational attracts elite junior golfers from across the U.S. and internationally, along with college coaches from top programs. Many KWI alumni have advanced to the game’s biggest stages—including invitations to the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, selections to the Jr. Solheim Cup, Solheim Cup, and Curtis Cup Teams, NCAA Championship rosters, and the LPGA Tour.

Notable alumnae include Rachel Heck (KWI 2018 Champion, NCAA Player of the Year in 2021), Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel, Nelly Korda, Jessica Korda, Christina Kim, Jane Rah, Brittany Lang, Jane Park, Alexa Pano, and many more.

“I was honored to be able to play and win the KWI at Mira Vista CC in 2003. Being able to meet and speak to Kathy was an incredible experience and I will always hold this memory close to my heart. Thank you Kathy for being a great role model and friend!”
